Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 351/2014

Argentina : Extension of Tariff Increase on Imported Products of 100 Tariff Lines

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 44/2012 of 16 January 2012 and No. 622/2012 of 7 August 2012 that the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR1) authorised its member states to temporarily increase tariffs on a list of imported products. Pursuant to CIC No. 139/2013 of 7 February 2013 regarding the Argentine government's tariff increase on imports of 100 tariff lines which has expired on 21 January 2014, Mercosur issued a Mercosur Decision No. 8/2014 on 28 March 2014 to authorise the Argentine government to extend the tariff increase of 100 tariff lines from 22 January 2014 to 21 January 2015.

2.The new list has added five tariff lines, MERCOSUR Common Classification (NCM) codes 2204.10.10, 3604.10.00, 3808.93.23, 8480.41.00 and 8903.99.00, to replace five tariff lines on the original list. The Argentine government is required to incorporate the Mercosur Decision into its national legislation by 1 July 2014. The full list of products and the respective tariff rates are set out in the Annex of Mercosur Decision.

3.For details, traders are advised to consult their importers in Argentina and/or the Mercosur Decision (in Spanish) at: http://gd.mercosur.int/SAM/GestDoc/pubweb.nsf/OpenFile?OpenAgent&base=Sam%5Cgestdoc5CDocOfic0Arch.nsf&id=01DBB57CDAE5001483257CAC00594262&archivo=DIR_008-2014_ES_AccionesPuntuales%20Ambito%20Tarifario_Ar.pdf.
