Commercial Information Circular No. 313/2014

US : Countervailing Action against Monosodium Glutamate from the Mainland of China : Termination of Investigations

The US Department of Commerce (DoC) announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 7 April 2014 the termination of countervailing duty investigations against monosodium glutamate from the Mainland of China due to withdrawal of petition. 2.A petition was filed on 16 September 2013 alleging that countervailable subsidies were being provided to producers and exporters of monosodium glutamate from the Mainland of China. The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 878/2013 of DoC's initiation of countervailing duty investigations, and CIC No. 221/2014 of DoC's preliminary countervailing duty determination. However, the petition with respect to the countervailing duty investigations was withdrawn on 7 March 2014, and in this instance, DoC is terminating these investigations.
