Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 239/2014

Chile : Modifications to Electronic Manifest System for Sea Cargo

Pursuant to the Commercial Information Circular No. 964/2012 of 23 November 2012 regarding the implementation of electronic manifest system for sea cargo in Chile, the Chilean government issued Exempt Resolution No. 59/2014 on 3 January 2014 to modify certain related provisions.

2.Exempt Resolution No. 59/2014 clarified that the actual date and time of arrival will determine whether the bill of lading has been submitted in time if the arrival time of a vessel is delayed.

3.For consolidated cargo in containers shipped to one or more consignees for which house bills of lading have been issued, the information on house bills of lading must be transmitted at least 24 hours prior to the estimated arrival time of the vessel if the information on master bill of lading has been sent. If the deadline cannot be met because the master bill of lading information has not been transmitted, the transmission must take place within 24 hours from the time of submission of information on master bill of lading.

4.Exempt Resolution No. 59/2014 also modified certain provisions in relation to modifications and clarifications to, and cancellations of bill of lading messages, as well as the submission of manifest information to warehouse and certain special circumstances.

5.For details, traders are advised to consult their importers in Chile and/or the relevant Chilean Exempt Resolution (in Spanish) at: http://www.aduana.cl/resolucion-exenta-n-0059-03-01-2013/aduana/2014-01-06/092209.html.
