Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 234/2014
Colombia : Tariff Suspension on Various Vehicles and Auto Parts
The Colombian government issued Decree No. 2910/2013 on 17 December 2013 to establish an Automotive Industry Promotion Program ("Programa de Fomento para la Industria Automotriz" in Spanish) which suspends import tariff on various vehicles and auto parts, which will take effect on 15 April 2014.
2.The imported auto parts will be duty-free if they are to be used in domestic manufacture of vehicles or auto parts, and do not have a valid National Production Registration on the date of shipment. Production of such vehicles and auto parts that incorporate duty-free imported components must take place within 12 months from the date of importation.
3.The tariff lines for vehicles or auto parts which may receive duty-free treatment are set out in Article 2 of Decree 2910/2013, and tariff lines for products that can be manufactured using duty-free imported auto parts are set out in Article 4 of Decree 2910/2013.
4.For details, traders are advised to consult their importers in Colombia and/or the Colombian Decree (in Spanish) at: http://www.mincit.gov.co/descargar.php?idFile=4265.
