Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 229/2014

Mexico : Sanitary and Labelling Requirements for Pre-packaged Cosmetic Products

The Mexican government recently amended mandatory standard NOM-141-SSA1/SCFI-2012, which established sanitary and commercial labelling requirements for pre-packaged cosmetic products.

DETAILS

2.The amendments do not establish any new requirements, but clarify the original standard and relax several provisions.

3.Among other changes, lotion and fragrance samples of two millilitres or less have been excluded from the labelling requirements, while children's shampoo containing salicylic acid and its salts has been excluded from the provision that requires children's products containing those chemicals to include language warning against their use on children younger than three years of age.

4.The new regulation will enter into force on 15 August 2015. For details, please refer to the relevant official notice (in Spanish) at http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5332692&fecha=14/02/2014.
