Commercial Information Circular No. 219/2014

US : CPSC Issued Safety Standard for Carriages and Strollers

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced in the Federal Register (FR) of 10 March 2014 a final rule issuing a safety standard for carriages and strollers.

2.The trade had been informed vide Commercial Information Circular no. 387/2013 of 21 May 2013 of CPSC's proposed safety standard for carriages and strollers. The new safety standard incorporates by reference the voluntary standard developed by ASTM International, ASTM F833-13b, "Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Carriages and Strollers", with a modification to address head entrapment hazards associated with multi-positional/adjustable grab bars. The standard will become effective on 10 September 2015.
