Commercial Information Circular No. 207/2014

Brazil : Conformity Certification Requirements for Party Articles and Fans and Air Circulators

The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decrees No. 603/2013 and 611/2013 on 12 and 19 December 2013 respectively to amend the conformity certification requirements or extend compliance dates for party articles, and fans and air circulators:

(a) Party Articles

Pursuant to Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 47/2013 of 15 January 2013 that the INMETRO established the conformity certification requirements for party articles, the INMETRO issued Decree No. 603/2013 to amend certain conformity certification requirements and extend the related compliance dates.

  Compliance Date Application Criteria
(i) 29 October 2014 manufacture and import of such products
(ii) 29 October 2015 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
(iii) 29 October 2016
domestic sale of such products by all other parties 

(b) Fans and Air Circulators

Pursuant to CIC No. 217/2012 of 16 March 2012 that the INMETRO established the conformity certification requirements for various types of fans and air circulators, the INMETRO issued Decree No. 611/2013 to extend the compliance date for domestic sale of such products by all parties from 20 January 2014 to 20 July 2014.
