Mexico : Energy Conservation Requirements for Electric Products in Standby Mode

Mexico's Ministry of Energy has recently issued mandatory standards for (NOM-032-ENER2013) establishing maximum energy consumption limits for electric equipment and apparatus in standby mode.

DETAILS

2.The new standard covers the following equipment with a monophasic power of 100 to 277 volts and 50 or 60 hertz that is either domestically-produced or imported for sale in Mexico: digital television adapters, decoders of TV signals transmitted via cable, satellite or internet protocol; equipment for the reproduction of images such as printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, and multi-functional machines; microwave ovens; equipment for the reproduction of audio; equipment for the reproduction of video or cinema in DVD or Blu-Ray Disc format; and LED, LCD, OLED and plasma TVs.

3.The standard also sets requirements regarding sampling, test methods, labelling, and enforcement. It will become effective on 20 September 2014, and compliance with the applicable labelling requirements will be verified starting from 29 December 2014.
