Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 190/2014

Mexico : Prohibition of Importation of Analogue Technology Televisions

Mexico's Ministry of Economy recently issued a press release reminding importers that mandatory standard NOM-192-SCFI/SCTI-2013 entered into force on 13 December 2013.

DETAILS

2.Under the mandatory standard, televisions are required to, at a minimum, be able to receive, tune into and reproduce signals transmitted using the ATSC A/53 standard, and are recommended, though not required, to be able to receive video signals transmitted using the A/72 standard. Compliant televisions must therefore be capable of receiving, tuning into and reproducing TDT, HDTV, and SDTV signals, which means analogue televisions may no longer be imported into or sold in Mexico.

3.For details, please refer to the relevant press release (in Spanish) at http://www.economia.gob.mx/eventos-noticias/sala-de-prensa/comunicados/10032-boletin181-13.
