Mexico : New Standards on Toxic Residues and Contaminants in Animal and Fish Products
The Mexican government recently issued a regulation setting forth criteria to determine the maximum toxic and contaminant residue limits in animal and fish products for human and animal consumption. The regulation will enter into force on 8 December 2014.
DETAILS
2.The new regulation provides a solid foundation to guarantee the safety of animal and fish products for domestic consumption and export. It authorises the National Food Health, Safety and Quality Service of Mexico (SENASICA) to establish maximum toxic and contaminant residue limits in animal and fish products. Drugs, pesticides and other toxic or contaminating substances not specifically regulated will have a zero tolerance limit until the pertinent risk analysis is performed.
