Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 593/2013
US : Revision of the List of Products Requiring Federal Contractor Certification as to Forced or Indentured Child Labour Pursuant to Executive Order 13126
The United States Department of Labour (DoL) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 23 July 2013 a notice revising the list required by Executive Order (EO) 13126 ("Prohibition of Acquisition of Products Produced by Forced or Indentured Child Labour"). The FR notice is available at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-07-23/pdf/2013-17520.pdf.
DETAILS
2. The FR notice revises, with immediate effect, the subject list last updated in April 2012. Six products, namely cattle from South Sudan, dried fish from Bangladesh, fish from Ghana, garments from Vietnam, and gold and wolframite from the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been added to the list. Federal contractors who supply products which appear on the list are required to certify, among others, that they have made a good faith effort to determine whether forced or indentured child labour was used to mine, produce or manufacture the relevant item.
3. For further details including the list of products and countries on the EO 13126 list, please refer to DoL's website at http://www.dol.gov/ILAB/regs/eo13126/main.htm.
