Colombia : Registration and Tracking System for Tobacco and Alcoholic Beverages
The Colombian government issued Decree No. 0601 on 1 April 2013 to eliminate the import licensing requirements for imported textiles, tobacco and alcohol. It also issued Decree No. 0602 on 1 April 2013 to adopt a new registration and tracking system for imported tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
2.Under the new arrangement, importers of tobacco, cigarettes, wine, beer, spirits and other alcoholic beverages will have to be registered in the National Tracking and Information System (Sistema Único Nacional de Información y Rastreo, SUNIR.) The SUNIR will track information related to a product's importation, production, distribution, consumption and potential re-exportation.
