Ecuador : Implementation of New Mixed Customs Tariff System for Imports of Certain Textiles, Clothing and Footwear
The Government of Ecuador has recently implemented a new mixed ad valorem/specific customs tariff system for imports of certain textiles and clothing (T&C) products classified under Chapters 61, 62 and 63 of the Ecuadorian National Customs Tariff of Imports (Arancel Nacional de Importaciones/ANI) and certain footwear classified under Chapter 64 of the ANI. The new customs tariff system has become effective on 1 June 2010.

Specifically, the mixed customs tariff system for imports of certain T&C products consists of a flat US$5.5 per kilogram specific tariff in addition to a 10% ad valorem tariff. Similarly, the mixed customs tariff system for imports of certain footwear consists of a flat US$6 per pair specific tariff in addition to a 10% ad valorem tariff.

For details of the new Ecuadorian mixed customs tariff system and products involved, trader are advised to consult their importers in Ecuador and/or the relevant Ecuadorian Resolution 552/2010 for T&C products and Resolution 550/2010 for footwear (both in Spanish) at Annexes A and B (pdf format) respectively appended to this circular.
