US : Informed Compliance Publication on Classification of Coated and Water
Resistant Apparel
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has recently issued a new informed compliance publication (ICP) entitled "What Every Member of the Trade Community Should Know About : Classification of Coated and Water Resistant Apparel".

The ICP is intended as an aid for traders to determine the appropriate classification of coated garments and water resistant garments under the Harmonised Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). Due to the similarities in the construction and use of coated and water resistant garments, and the fact that a particular garment may be equally well described by both provisions, CBP issued the ICP to clarify the distinctions between visibly coated garments of HTSUS headings 6113 and 6210, and water resistant garments of various subheadings within HTSUS Chapter 62.
