Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 165/2008

Argentina : Non-automatic Import Licensing Requirements

As required by the non-automatic import licensing system, licences must be obtained before importing products such as footwear, paper products, bicycles, household goods, toys, tyres and tubes, motorcycles, certain textile and apparel products and miscellaneous manufactured articles, etc. into Argentina. Recently, the Argentine Government has announced not to accept any amendments for non-automatic import licences. In other words, no modifications will be allowed after licence application is submitted and/or licence is issued. If there are changes of licence particulars, the importer concerned is advised to request cancellation of the original application and/or return the issued licence, and submit a new licence application, if necessary.

  1.
  2. To clarify the relevance of the new requirements to their exports to Argentina and/or to obtain further information on the detailed requirements, traders are advised to approach their importers in Argentina for the relevant details. Our Commercial Information Circular No. 234/2007 of 12 June 2007 and No. 394/2007 of 26 October 2007 reported latest information with respect to the Argentine import licensing requirements.
