Textiles Trader Registration Circular No. 15/2019

Indonesia : Imposition of Provisional Safeguard Measures on Certain Textiles Products

The trade was informed vide Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 719/2019 dated 27 September 2019 that the Indonesian government initiated safeguard investigations on certain textile products, including (i) fabrics; (ii) yarn (other than sewing thread) of synthetic and artificial staple fibres; and (iii) curtains (including drapes), interior blinds, bed valances, and other furnishing articles, respectively.

2.Indonesia has recently decided to impose provisional safeguard measures on aforementioned Products (i), (ii) and (iii). The provisional measures will apply to all World Trade Organization (WTO) Members, except for those being placed on the exclusion list. Hong Kong is excluded from Indonesia's provisional safeguard measures on products set out in (ii) and (iii) but not those in (i). Details of the provisional results and provisional safeguard measures are set out in WTO's notifications (in English) at G/SG/N/7/IDN/2, G/SG/N/7/IDN/2/Suppl.1, G/SG/N/7/IDN/3 and G/SG/N/7/IDN/4.

3.Salient points of Indonesia's provisional safeguard measures on products set out in (i) applicable to Hong Kong are set out in table below:

Date of entry into force and duration The provisional safeguard measure entered into force on 9 November 2019. It will be applied for 200 days from the date of entry into force.
