Hong Kong's Values of Re-exports by Main Destination, 2023
The top three destinations for Hong Kong's re-exports in 2023 were the Mainland, the United States of America (USA) and India, with re-exports values of HK$2,295.4 billion, HK$266.3 billion and HK$166.1 billion respectively. Their corresponding shares of the total re-exports in the year were 55.8%, 6.5% and 4.0%. When compared with 2022, the re-exports values of these top three destinations all went down, at the rates of 9.9%, 6.6% and 2.8% respectively.
Taiwan, Viet Nam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked the fourth to the sixth destinations in 2023, with re-exports values of HK$131.5 billion (corresponding to 3.2% in share), HK$110.1 billion (2.7% in share) and HK$101.6 billion (2.5% in share) respectively. When compared with 2022, the re-exports values to Taiwan and Viet Nam dropped by 10.9% and 0.3% respectively, whereas that to the UAE increased by 8.4%.
The other major destinations of Hong Kong's re-exports in 2023 included Japan (HK$83.7 billion or 2.0%), Netherlands (HK$77.2 billion or 1.9%), Macao (HK$73.2 billion or 1.8%) and Korea (HK$72.8 billion or 1.8%). Comparing with 2022, decreases in re-exports values were registered to Japan (by 17.8%), Netherlands (by 2.5%) and Korea (by 8.2%). On the other hand, the value of re-exports to Macao rose by 25.8%.
