Hong Kong's Values of Imports by Main Supplier, 2023
For 2023 as a whole, the Mainland, Taiwan and Singapore continued to rank the top three suppliers to Hong Kong with imports values of HK$2,022.3 billion, HK$525.9 billion and HK$329.6 billion respectively. Their corresponding shares of the total imports in the year were 43.5%, 11.3% and 7.1%. When compared with 2022, the import values from these top three suppliers all went down, at the rates of 2.7%, 10.5% and 17.3% respectively.
Korea, Japan and the United States of America (USA) ranked the fourth to the sixth suppliers of goods to Hong Kong in 2023 with import values of HK$223.6 billion (corresponding to 4.8% in share), HK$221.5 billion (4.8% in share) and HK$199.7 billion (4.3% in share) respectively. When compared with 2022, the import values dropped by 22.8% from Korea, fell by 8.8% from Japan and down by 4.6% from the USA.
The other major suppliers of goods to Hong Kong in 2023 included Malaysia (HK$149.8 billion or 3.2%), Viet Nam (HK$133.7 billion or 2.9%), Thailand (HK$85.6 billion or 1.8%) and Philippines (HK$79.3 billion or 1.7%). Comparing with 2022, the import values from these suppliers decreased by 15.3%, 7.0%, 8.6% and 15.7% respectively.
