Hong Kong's Values of Domestic Exports by Major Commodity, 2019

The top three principal commodities in the values of Hong Kong's domestic exports in 2019 were "miscellaneous manufactured articles" 1 with values of domestic exports at HK$12.1 billion (accounting for 25.4% in share), "metalliferous ores and metal scrap" with values of domestic exports at HK$5.3 billion (11.1% in share) and "medicinal and pharmaceutical products" with values of domestic exports at HK$3.9 billion (8.1% in share). When compared with 2018, the values of domestic exports of these top three principal commodities increased sharply by 22.6%, fell by 9.1% and rose by 2.8% respectively.

Following were the principal commodities of "plastics in primary forms" 2 with values of domestic exports at HK$3.6 billion (corresponding to 7.5% in share), "tobacco and tobacco manufactures" with values of domestic exports at HK$3.4 billion (7.1% in share) and "miscellaneous edible products and preparations" 3 with values of domestic exports at HK$2.2 billion (4.5% in share). When compared with 2018, their values of domestic exports increased by 1.2%, 2.0% and 7.6% respectively.

The other principal commodities in terms of values of domestic exports included "non-ferrous metals" at HK$2.1 billion (corresponding to 4.4% in share), "cereals and cereal preparations" at HK$2.1 billion (4.3% in share), "essential oils and resinoids and perfume materials; toilet, polishing and cleansing preparations" at HK$1.3 billion (2.8% in share) and "petroleum, petroleum products and related materials" at HK$1.2 billion (2.6% in share). When compared with 2018, the rates of change of these principal commodities were -16.4%, +15.4%, -3.8% and +0.6% respectively.

Notes:
1 Among "miscellaneous manufactured articles", percentage share of "jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semi-precious materials" in Hong Kong's domestic exports in 2019 was the largest (20.7%).

2 "Plastics in primary forms" and "plastics in non-primary forms" together accounted for 8.4% of Hong Kong's domestic exports in 2019.

3 Among "miscellaneous edible products and preparations", percentage share of "edible products and preparations" (other than "margarine and shortening") in Hong Kong's domestic exports in 2019 was the largest (4.5%).
