Appointment of Hong Kong representatives to ABAC
Thursday, November 28, 2013

The Government today (November 28) announced the re-appointment of the Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, Mr Anthony Nightingale; the Chairman and Chief Executive of Pacific Century Group, Mr Richard Li and the Chairman of Shui On Group, Mr Vincent Lo, as Hong Kong's representatives to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC) until the end of 2014. The Government also appointed the Executive Director and Joint General Manager of New World Development Company Limited, Mr Adrian Cheng, as Hong Kong's alternate representatives to the ABAC until the end of 2015.

Hong Kong's other incumbent alternate representative to the ABAC is the Managing Director of Wheelock and Company Limited, Mr Douglas Woo, whose term will end by the end of 2014.

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, spoke highly of the services rendered by Mr Nightingale, Mr Li and Mr Lo.

"The Government is very grateful for Mr Nightingale's, Mr Li's and Mr Lo's tremendous contributions to ABAC over the years in fostering closer co-operation between APEC and the Asia-Pacific business community.

"Despite their heavy public and business commitments, they participated actively in the work of ABAC. Their wise counsel is invaluable to ABAC's taking forward the priorities of this important regional business forum," he said.

The ABAC was established in 1996 as a permanent business advisory body to provide advice to APEC on business sector priorities for implementing its goal of free and open trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
