TID to participate in World SME Expo

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) will participate in the World SME Expo to be held at Hall 1 of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from tomorrow to Saturday (December 1 to 3).

This annual expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), provides a platform for service providers to promote their services and business solutions to Hong Kong's small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and help SMEs explore international market opportunities.

As one of the supporting organisations and major exhibitors, the TID will showcase the department's work and support services to SMEs, including the Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS); the SME Funding Schemes; the Hong Kong Awards for Industries; the Working Group on Industrial, Commercial and Professional Sectors under the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee; brand development and promotion; the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement; and free trade agreements. In addition, business professionals and expert consultants will be invited to provide free on-site one-on-one business advisory services to visiting SMEs on questions concerning business start-up, marketing, legal and accounting matters.

During the expo, representatives of the TID will also speak on the support services for SMEs at three seminars. Details are as follows:

A high-level conference entitled "A Breakthrough in Brand Awareness Strategies for the Mainland Domestic Market", to be held tomorrow (December 1), is one of the highlights in this year's expo. At the conference, Hong Kong entrepreneurs with rich experience in domestic sales and online marketing experts will share with SMEs their successful experience in brand building in order to tap into the Mainland market, as well as strategies to make effective use of online platforms for marketing. The conference, jointly organised by the TID and the HKTDC, will be held from 2.15pm to 5.30pm in Seminar Room E. Admission is free.
