SME seminar on Blue Ocean Strategy
Wednesday, October 25, 2006

The Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department will hold a seminar entitled "Blue Ocean Strategy – Hong Kong Cases" on November 14 (Tuesday) to introduce basic principles and tools of the strategy.

Companies have long engaged in head-to-head competition for competitive advantage, market share and differentiation. However, competing head-on results in a bloody "Red Ocean" of rivals fighting over a shrinking profit pool. "Blue Ocean Strategy" emphasises that leading companies of a new generation will succeed not by battling competitors, but by creating a "Blue Ocean" of uncontested market space ripe for growth.

In the seminar, Senior Consultant of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, Dr Joe Leung, will introduce enterprise development and growth, "Red Ocean" vs "Blue Ocean" as well as principles and tools of "Blue Ocean Strategy". Several local entrepreneurs will also share their experiences and talk about the effectiveness in adoption of the strategy.

The seminar will be held from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at the Lecture Theatre, Ground Floor, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (MTR Tin Hau Station Exit B). It will be conducted in Cantonese and admission is free. Interested parties are requested to register with SUCCESS in advance as seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please visit the SUCCESS website (http://www.success.tid.gov.hk) for details of the seminar and for online registration. Registration form can also be downloaded from the SUCCESS website. Please fax completed registration form to SUCCESS (2375 7105). Deadline for registration is November 10 (Friday) or when all seats are allocated, whichever is earlier.
