SUCCESS extension opens today

The expanded Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department (TID) opened today (September 21) with strengthened services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

A TID spokesman said: "Since its inception in November 2001, SUCCESS has taken up the mission of providing support to Hong Kong's SMEs by offering them an array of free, reliable and practical consultation and business information services, making itself the first stop for SMEs to look for free business support.

"SUCCESS has been well received by the local business community. We decided to expand it to increase its capacity to serve more SMEs. With more space and resources, we have enhanced our services and installed new facilities. They include more comprehensive information services for potential business start-ups, more computers for access to business databases and a display area for non-profit making organisations to publicise their services to SMEs."

SUCCESS offers free business information and consultation services to SMEs. On business information, we provide:

- comprehensive information on the Government licensing and certification requirements for running different kinds of business in Hong Kong;
- a user-friendly website (http://www.success.tid.gov.hk) which is a ready source of information on SME services and facilities;
- free access to business electronic databases;
- a wide collection of business reference materials in the Reference Library;
- a regular publication - "SME Pulse" with articles on topical issues.

SUCCESS also organises seminars, workshops and other activities to help broaden SMEs' business knowledge and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

On consultation services, SMEs seeking professional and expert advice may apply for our "Meet-the-Advisers" Business Advisory Service or join our SME Mentorship Programme.
