United Kingdom (UK) : Initiation of safeguard investigation concerning Poly(ethylene Terephthalate) (PET)
The UK Government published a notice on 5 August 2026 initiating a safeguard investigation on imports of Poly(ethylene Terephthalate) (PET). The notice is available at: https://public-file.trade-remedies.service.gov.uk/case/sg0094/submission/1050.
2.The product under investigation is PET resin, whether virgin produced poly(ethylene terephthalate) (vPET) having a viscosity number of 74 ml/g or higher or recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate) (rPET) of the same viscosity range, currently falling under UK Global Tariff commodity codes 3907 6100, 3907 6900.
3.All interested parties may register their interest in the investigation by 19 August 2026 via the Trade Remedies Service at: https://portal.trade-remedies.service.gov.uk/. They may submit comments on any issues relevant to the investigation and request a hearing through the Trade Remedies Service.
4.For traders involved in the exports of the subject product from the Guangdong Province, please contact ZHENG Jingmin, Director of Trade Remedy and Industry Injury Investigation Division under the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, at 86 20 3881 9797. The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
