Dear Sirs,
According to Notification Nos. 15/2026-Customs and 16/2026-Customs issued by the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance of India, the import duties on precious metals and related products have been increased effective from 13 May 2026. Products covered under these measures are classifiable under India's Harmonised System (HS) codes of silver (HS 7106), gold (HS 7108), platinum (HS 7110), silver, gold, and platinum-clad metals (HS 7107, 7109, 7111), jewelry findings (ex HS 7113), waste and scrap of precious metal or of metal clad with precious metal (ex HS 7112), spent catalyst and ash (ex HS 7112), and coins (HS 7118).
2.The measures establish a uniform 10% Basic Customs Duty (BCD) and apply Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) rates ranging from 4.35% to 5.4% to the products concerned. The details are tabulated below for easy reference -
