Dear Sirs,
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 12 February 2026 a direct final rule updating the mandatory standard for crib mattresses.
2.This direct final rule updates the mandatory standard for crib mattresses to incorporate by reference 2025 version of the voluntary standard developed by ASTM International, i.e. ASTM F2933-25 - Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Crib Mattresses, while maintaining certain modifications.
3.The rule is effective on 3 May 2026. If the Commission receives a significant adverse comment by 16 March 2026, it will publish a document in the FR withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date.
