Dear Sirs,
Following its earlier reform of foreign investment framework (Commercial Information Circular No. 138/2021 cum Textiles Trader Registration Circular No. 2/2021 of 4 March 2021 refers), the Australian Government announced in the 2026-27 Budget a package of legislative, policy and practice reforms to further streamline and strengthen the foreign investment framework.
DETAILS
2.The reforms serve to ensure that Australia’s regulatory settings are well-calibrated to attract and enable low-risk investment, while providing stronger and more flexible tools to identify, manage and respond to high-risk investment, serious non-compliance and avoidance. 3.As part of the reforms, the Australian Government is reviewing conditions attached to existing foreign investment approvals and is inviting public views on the corresponding Consultation Paper by 15 September 2026 (Australian time).
