Dear Sirs,
The US President signed on 1 February 2025 an executive order imposing an additional 10% tariff on articles that are products of China with effect from 4 February 2025.
2.In the executive order dated 1 February 2025, the US President declared a national emergency under the National Emergencies Act and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of the US and decided to impose ad valorem tariffs on articles that are products of China as set forth in this order.
3.According to the executive order, all articles that are products of China, as defined by the forthcoming Federal Register (FR) notice described in section 2(d) of this order, shall be subject to an additional 10% ad valorem rate of duty. The rates of duty established by this order are in addition to any other duties, fees, exactions, or charges applicable to such imported articles. The modifications made to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the US by the FR notice shall be effective with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 4 February 2025, except as otherwise stated in this order, and shall continue in effect until further notice from the US. No drawback shall be available with respect to the duties imposed pursuant to this order and duty-free de minimis treatment shall not be available for the concerned articles.
