Dear Sir/Madam,
Hong Kong and Peru signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA)* on 15 November 2024 (Lima time) in Lima, Peru.
2.The FTA has comprehensive coverage, encompassing trade in goods, trade in services (including electronic commerce), investment and other related areas. The FTA's overall commitments go beyond those undertaken by the two economies under the World Trade Organization. Merchandise trade of Hong Kong can be benefited from elimination or reduction of tariff, and reduction of trade barriers by Peru. Service providers and investors, likewise, can be benefited from legal certainty of better market access and national treatment when entering and operating in Peru.
3.Full text of the Agreement is available at <https://www.tid.gov.hk/en/our_work/trade_and_investment_agreements/ftas/peru.html>. The FTA will enter into force after Hong Kong and Peru have completed their respective internal procedures.
4.For enquiries, please contact the undersigned at 3403 6467.
Yours faithfully,
(Ms Priscilla CHEUNG)
for Director-General of Trade and Industry
** The Agreement with Peru is the ninth FTA that Hong Kong has signed, and the first FTA signed by the current-term Government.
