Dear Sirs,
Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 711/2023 of 29 September 2023, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2024/1849 on 10 July 2024 to amend Regulation (EU) 2017/852 as regards dental amalgam and other mercury-added products subject to manufacturing, import and export prohibitions. 2.In gist, the export of dental amalgam shall be prohibited from 1 January 2025, and the import and manufacturing of dental amalgam shall be prohibited from 1 July 2026, except for specific medical needs. Also, Annex II of the Regulation (EU) 2017/852 is amended to include certain mercury-added products, of which their manufacturing, import and export will be prohibited from either 31 December 2025 or 31 December 2026. The Regulation will enter into force on 30 July 2024.
