Dear Sirs,
The UK Government has published guidance on placing manufactured goods on the market in Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) respectively. The guidance are available at:
(in respect of GB) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/placing-manufactured-goods-on-the-market-in-great-britain;and
(in respect of NI) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/placing-manufactured-goods-on-the-market-in-northern-ireland.
2.The UKCA marking applies to goods being placed on the market in GB (England, Scotland and Wales) previously subject to the European Union (EU)'s CE marking. The UKCA marking came into effect on 1 January 2021. To allow businesses time to adjust to the new UKCA marking, businesses will be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2023 in most cases. For details, please refer to the UK Government's guidance on using the UKCA marking, which is available at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-ukca-marking
3.In the NI market, EU conformity markings (e.g. CE marking) continue to be used in general to show that goods meet EU rules. For goods which require mandatory third-party conformity assessment and choose to use a UK body to carry out those conformity assessment, the additional UKNI marking applies. For details, please refer to the UK Government's guidance on using the UKNI marking, which is available at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-ukni-marking.
4.For product-specific information, please refer to the UK Government's industry guidance on product safety for businesses, which is available at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/product-safety-for-businesses-a-to-z-of-industry-guidance
