Dear Sirs,

The Chilean government has issued an Exempt Resolution to set minimum energy efficiency standards for certain indoor lighting products for household use and/or general lighting.

2.The new standards covering the following products will be implemented in phases from 1 May 2021:

• incandescent tungsten filaments lamps for household use and general lighting;
• lamps with an incorporated ballast for general lighting;
• single- and double-capped fluorescent lamps for general lighting;
• single- and double-capped tungsten halogen lamps for household use and similar general lighting;
• incandescent tungsten halogen lamps (non-vehicular); and
• LED lamps with an incorporated ballast for household use and similar general lighting.

3.Products that fail to comply with the following minimum energy efficiency standards will not be able to be commercialised in Chile from the relevant effective dates:

• 40 lumens per watt from 1 May 2021;
• 70 lumens per watt from 1 January 2023; and
• 85 lumens per watt from 1 January 2025.
