Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 9/2003

European Union (EU)* : Notice Concerning the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Certain Steel Products Originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 181/2002 of 14 September 2002, the European Commission (EC) intends to consider whether it is necessary to propose amendments to the level of the existing anti-dumping duties relating to certain steel products# originating in the mainland of China. The said products are currently subject to anti-dumping and countervailing measures as well as definitive safeguard measures. The combined effect of these measures could lead to the establishment of a level of protection higher than that which is necessary. The EC would examine the position and invites comments from all interested parties. The details are published in a notice in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a copy of which is at Annex (pdf format) for reference.

  1. In order to have all interested parties' views on the above, the EC will contact the Community industry, any association of producers in the Community, exporters/producers and any association of exporters/producers in the mainland of China, importers and any association of importers which co-operated in the investigation leading to the anti-dumping measures in question, and the authorities of the mainland of China. All interested parties may make their views known, submit information and provide supporting evidence within 40 days from 11 December 2002. All correspondence must be made in writing (not in electronic format, unless otherwise specified) indicating the name, address, e-mail address, telephone and fax, and/or telex numbers of the interested party and should be made to the following address :
