New
Zealand : New Import Health Standards on Wood Products
Further to my Commercial
Information Circular No. 70/99 of 12 May 1999 on the captioned, New Zealand
has announced further postponement of its new import health standards
for importing wood products from the original implementation date of 30
August 1999. The effective date from which shipments containing wood products
or using wood packaging should be sterilised or treated when arriving
in New Zealand is yet to be determined by the New Zealand authorities,
but is expected to be near the end of 1999. Draft standards can be found
in the website of the New Zealand's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
at http://www.maf.gov.nz/forestry at least eight weeks prior to implementation.
