Commercial Information Circular No. 672/2008

Canada : Certain Exemptions for Padded Undergarments and Shoulder Pads
and Trimmings in Articles of Clothing from the Ontario Regulation 218/01
(Upholstered and Stuffed Articles)

The Canadian Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) recently made amendments to the Ontario Regulation 218/01 (Upholstered and Stuffed Articles) under the Canadian Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000.   1. Under the amended regulations with the addition of Section 2(2)(e) and Section 2(2)(f), persons engaged in the manufacture or sale of padded undergarments or shoulder pads and trimmings in articles of clothing, and articles of clothing containing shoulder pads or trimmings, or both, but only with respect to the shoulder pads or trimmings, or both are exempted from Subsection 3(1) - Licence required, Section 5 - Labelling requirements, Section 6 - Prohibition on sale of unlabelled articles and Section 8 - Prohibition on sale of certain articles of the Ontario Regulation 218/01 (Upholstered and Stuffed Articles).
