Commercial Information Circular No. 40/2008

US : Proposed Rule on Importer Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 12/2008 dated 4 January 2008 that the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was inviting public comments by 3 March 2008 on a proposed rule to require both importers and carriers to electronically submit additional cargo information before the cargo is brought into the US by vessel. CBP announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 8 January 2008 amendments to the docket number and name of the CBP office to which public comments should be submitted. A copy (pdf format) of the FR notice is appended to this circular for reference.
