Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC)
What is PECC?
PECC is a non-governmental regional organization founded in 1980. It is a unique tripartite partnerships of government officials, business leaders and academics who all participate in their personal capacities to discuss cooperation and policy coordination in areas that would promote economic growth and development in the Pacific region.
PECC is one of the three official observers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
PECC's Membership
PECC has 23 full members: Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; China; Colombia; Ecuador; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; Mongolia; New Zealand; Peru; the Philippines; Pacific Islands Forum (PIF); Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; the United States and Viet Nam.

- institutional members: Pacific Trade and Development Conference (PAFTAD) and Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC).
Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC)
The HKCPEC was established in March 1990 to co-ordinate Hong Kong's participation in PECC. It comprises representatives from the Government, business and academic sectors appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. The HKCPEC Secretariat is serviced by the Trade and Industry Department. The contact details are :

The 14th PECC General Meeting (PECC XIV)
Hong Kong, China was the PECC Chair from October 1999 to November 2001. The themes and sub-themes for the term are :
Theme: - Managing Globalisation in the 21st Century
Sub-themes : - Charting the Millennium Trade Agenda and Strengthening Financial Markets and Corporate Governance - Community Building - Seizing the E-opportunities
As PECC Chair, HKC hosted the PECC XIV on 28 to 30 November 2001 with the theme "Managing Globalisation in the 21st century". It involved a total of over 100 speakers and about 1,000 participants. The Meeting also issued the "PECC XIV Hong Kong Declaration : A New Challenge for a New Century" |
