Enquiry on Permissible Limits for Component Parts

Manufacturers may enquire whether certain manufacturing processes of a cut-and-sewn garment can be carried out outside Hong Kong without affecting the Hong Kong origin status of the finished garment under the Production Notification arrangement.

The enquiry can be made verbally or in writing. For verbal enquiry, the enquirer should approach the Customer Service Centre (Tel. No. : 2398 5288) of the Textiles Licensing Branch on 2/F, Trade and Industry Department Tower, with a sample of the finished garment and its component parts.

For written enquiry, the enquirer should provide the following to the Customer Service Centre of the Textiles Licensing Branch:

1. a completed enquiry form (TID 240)

2. a set of photos showing front and back views of the finished garment

3. at least one photo for each manufacturing process in question

4. a sample of the finished garment

5. a set of garment part/cut piece sample for each manufacturing process in question
