Electronic Services and its Benefits

Electronic mode of trade transactions enables the transfer of data from one computer to another in such a way that each transaction in the trading cycle (for example, commencing from the receipt of an order from an overseas buyer, through the preparation and lodgement of export and other official documents, leading eventually to the shipment of the goods) can be processed with virtually no paperwork. It enjoys advantages over the paper-mode in the following aspects:

• higher processing speed, shorter turnaround time and greater efficiency;
• less data re-entry and transcription, less error-prone and greater accuracy;
• lower cost and more convenience with less physical transportation of documents; and
• less paper consumption due to electronic transmission and storage of transactions.
