Statutory Declarations for Export of Antiques to the United Kingdom and New Zealand

Application Procedures and Forms

(1) An application must be made at least 4 working days before shipment. As an application condition, the consignment in question must be kept at the declared location for inspection upon request.

(2) An applicant should first complete a Declaration Form TRA 541. The applicant should provide the full description of the antique to be exported as well as the name and address of the overseas importer on the Declaration Form.

(3) The declaration should be sworn either by the antique dealer himself or his representative before an authorized person, i.e. Justice of Peace, Notary Public, Commissioner for Oaths in the High Court or the Trade and Industry Department (TID). The Commissioner for Oaths in the TID can be contacted at the Factory Registration and Origin Certification Branch.

(4) The applicant should then present the original Declaration (together with a photocopy) and a completed application form TRA 343, to the Factory Registration and Origin Certification Branch. Consignment inspection may be conducted by authorized officers of the Customs and Excise Department.

(5) The fee for each application is $485, which can be paid in the form of cash, crossed cheque made payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region", or through the Easy Pay System (EPS) or Faster Payment System (FPS) at the Shroff and Form Sales Counter on 13/F of Trade and Industry Tower. For application lodged via the Department's e-Form Submission Service, the fee may be paid by credit card via e-Payment Platform Portal, or e-cheque made payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region".

(6) Photocopy of the Declaration will be endorsed and ready for collection normally four clear working days after receipt of the application. The applicant may send the endorsed photocopy to the overseas importer for presentation to the Customs authorities in the United Kingdom or New Zealand as appropriate. The original Declaration will be retained by the Department.
