European Union (EU) * : Commission Directive announcing the use of textile fibre elastolefin for labelling purpose
The European Commission (EC) has introduced amendments to Directive 96/74/EC on textile names by adding the fibre elastolefin to the list of textiles fibres for labelling purpose. Details of the amendments are set out in Directive 2007/3/EC accessible from the EU website at:

DETAILS
- The Directive 96/74/EC lays down rules governing the labelling or marking of fibre content of textiles products and provides a list of textile fibres with specified nature and description for labelling purpose. The Directive 96/74/EC (position as at 2006) is accessible from the EU website at :

- On the basis of the recent findings by a technical working group and for the purpose of adaptation to technical progress, the EC has adopted Directive 2007/3/EC to add the fibre elastolefin to the list of textile fibres contained in Directive 96/74/EC. EU Member States are also required to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the Directive 2007/3/EC by 2 February 2008.
