Notice to Exporters: Series 2 (EU) No. 2/2006

European Union (EU)* : Commission Directive announcing the use of textile fibre elastomultiester for labelling purpose

The European Commission (EC) has introduced amendments to Directive 96/74/EC on textile names by adding the fibre elastomultiester to the list of textiles fibres for labelling purpose. Details of the amendments are set out in Directive 2006/3/EC at Appendix A (pdf format) .

DETAILS

  1. The Directive 96/74/EC lays down rules governing the labelling or marking of fibre content of textiles products and provides a list of textile fibres with specified nature and description for labelling purpose. A copy of the Directive 96/74/EC (position as at 2004) is at Appendix B (pdf format) , which is also accessible from the EU website at :

  1. On the basis of the recent findings by a technical working group and for the purpose of adaptation to technical progress, the EC has adopted Directive 2006/3/EC to add the fibre elastomultiester to the list of textile fibres contained in Directive 96/74/EC. EU Member States are also required to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the Directive 2006/3/EC by 9 January 2007.
