European Union (EU)* : Restriction of the use of ammonium salts in cellulose wadding insulation materials

The European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Decision authorising the provisional measure notified by the French Republic concerning the restriction of the use of ammonium salts in cellulose wadding insulation materials, in accordance with the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. DETAILS

2.On 21 June 2013, the French Republic adopted a provisional measure to prohibit the placing on the market, import, sale and distribution and manufacture of cellulose wadding insulation materials with ammonium salts in order to protect the public from exposure. It then submitted an Order requesting the Commission to authorize the prohibition in accordance with the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

3.Considering the scientific and technical information provided by France, the Commission has adopted a decision authorising a provisional measure for a time period of 21 months from the date of effect of the Decision. The Decision shall expire either when it is adapted to the Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 or six months after the restrictions procedure is finalised.
