Commercial Information Circular No. 575/2013

European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for Vacuum Cleaners

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 560/2009 of 6 November 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for vacuum cleaners. Details are set out in Commission Regulation (EU) No 666/2013 (the Regulation), which can be accessed through the following link:

DETAILS

2.The Regulation establishes the ecodesign requirements for the placing on the market of electric mains-operated vacuum cleaners, including hybrid vacuum cleaners. However, it shall not apply to the products listed in Article 1(2) of the Regulation.

3.Details of the ecodesign requirements for vacuum cleaners with application dates on either 1 September 2014 or 1 September 2017 are set out in Annex I of the Regulation. Measurement and calculation methods are set out in Annex II whereas verification procedure for market surveillance purposes are set out in Annex III. The indicative benchmarks for best-performing vacuum cleaners can be found in Annex IV of the Regulation.
