European Union (EU)* : Regulations on Food Intended for Infants and Young Children, Special Medical Purposes and Total Diet Replacement for Weight Control
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 558/2009, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have adopted a regulation concerning food intended for infants and young children, special medical purposes as well as total diet replacement for weight control. DETAILS
2.The Regulation establishes compositional and information requirements for the infant formula and follow-on formula; processed cereal-based food and baby food; food for special medical purposes; as well as total diet replacement for weight control. It also establishes a Union list of substances that may be added to one or more of the categories of food referred to the above mentioned food categories and lays down the rules applicable to the updating of the list.
3.Details of the general compositional and information requirements are set out in Articles 6-10 whereas the specific requirements are set out in Articles 11-14. This Regulation shall apply from 20 July 2016, with the exception of Articles 11, 16, 18 and 19 which shall apply from 19 July 2013 and Article 15 and the Annex of this Regulation which shall apply from 20 July 2015.
