European Union (EU)* : Amendments to Regulation on Food Additives

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 84/2013 dated 24 January 2013, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation to amend Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 concerning the use of Tricalcium phosphate (E341 (iii)) in nutrient preparations intended for use in foods for infants and young children.  Details are set out in Commission Regulation (EU) No 244/2013, which can be accessed through the following link:

DETAILS

2.Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 lays down a Union list of food additives approved for use in food additives, food enzymes, food flavourings, nutrients and their conditions of use. Since the Scientific Committee for Food considered it appropriate to authorise the use of Tricalcium phosphate (E 341 (iii)) as an anti-caking agent in nutrient preparations intended for use in infant formulae and follow-on formulae, Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 should be amended accordingly.
