Commercial Information Circular No. 846/2012
European Union (EU)* : Regulation on Food Flavourings

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 169/2011 dated 16 March 2011, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted two Regulations to introduce the list of flavouring substances into Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 as well as to provide transitional measures for those flavourings and source materials that are not included in the Union list. DETAILS

2. Regulation (EU) No 872/2012 adopts and introduces the list of flavouring substances which contained in Article 2(2) of Regulation (EC) No 2232/96 into Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008. It shall apply from 22 April 2013. To ensure a smooth authorization procedure, Regulation (EC) No 873/2012 provides transitional measures for food containing flavouring substances as well as for food containing flavourings and source materials as referred in Article 9 of Regulation (EC) 1334/2008. Regulation (EU) 873/2012 shall enter into force on 22 October 2012.
