Commercial Information Circular No. 492/2012
European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for water pumps
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 560/2009 of 6 November 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for water pumps. DETAILS
2. The Regulation establishes the ecodesign requirements for rotodynamic water pumps for pumping clean water, including where integrated in other products. However, exceptions are stated under Article 1(2) of the Regulation.
3. There are five Annexes under the Regulation and their respective content is as follows:
(a) Annex I | - | Definitions applicable for the purposes of Annexes II to V; |
(b) Annex II | - | Ecodesign requirements for water pumps; |
(c) Annex III | - | Measurements and calculations requirements; |
(d) Annex IV | - | Verification procedures for market surveillance purposes; and |
(e) Annex V | - | Indicative benchmarks for best-performing water pumps. |
4. The ecodesign requirements shall apply in accordance with the timetable set out in Article 3 of the Regulation. The effective dates would be on 1 January 2013 or 1 January 2015, depending on the minimum efficiency requirements.
