European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for Household Dishwashers
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 560/2009 of 6 November 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers. The Regulation specifies the ecodesign requirements, conformity assessment and verification procedures on household dishwashers, which includes electric mains-operated household dishwashers and electric mains-operated household dishwashers which can also be powered by batteries, those sold for non-household use and built-in household dishwashers.

Details of the generic and specific eco-design requirements are set out in Annex I of the Regulation. Verification procedures for checking compliance with the ecodesign requirements are set out in Annex III. The indicative benchmarks for best-performing household dishwashers can be found in Annex IV. The ecodesign requirements shall be implemented in several stages starting from 1 June 2012 to 1 December 2016.
