Commercial Information Circular No. 72/2009

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Wire Rod Originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 264/2008 of 8 May 2008, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of wire rod originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China. The regulation can be accessed through the following link :

DETAILS

  1. Salient points are set out below -
(a) Product :

Bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coils, of iron, non-alloy steel or alloy steel other than of stainless steel, normally declared within CN codes 7213 10 00, 7213 20 00, 7213 91 10, 7213 91 20, 7213 91 41, 7213 91 49, 7213 91 70, 7213 91 90, 7213 99 10, 7213 99 90, 7227 10 00, 7227 20 00, 7227 90 10, 7227 90 50 and 7227 90 95 (these CN codes are given for information only).

(b) Rate of Duty :

24.6% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for 1 company whose individual duty rate is 8.6%).

(c) Effective Date :

8 February 2009 (the duty will apply for 6 months).

(d) Collection of Duty :

The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.

(e) Time Limit for Comments :

Interested parties may request disclosure of the essential facts and considerations on the basis of which the regulation was adopted, make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 8 February 2009.
